Diving in Boracay

Why dive in Boracay?

Though Boracay is famous for the beach and the parties, it is one of the more underrated dive destinations in the Philippines. Boracay has a wide range of dive sites, from shallow reefs to wrecks and deep drift dives, offering something suitable for all divers, from the complete novice through to the seasoned diver. Most dive sites are located within a 5 to 15-minute boat ride from White Beach.

The variety and dive sites and the proximity to White Beach make the Boracay an ideal place for dive courses as students can progress to more challenging dives as they continue their certification, and can work on skills back on shore between the dives.

Seasons and Best Time to Dive

The best time to dive in Boracay is from October through to May when most dive sites on White Beach are accessible. Visibility during these months can vary from 15 to 25 meters, depending on the dive site.

During typhoon season, from June to September, diving moves to Bulabog Beach on the east side of the island, giving access to less visited reefs and a rare chance to dive Boracay’s bat cave. The weather can be unpredictable during typhoon months, but on good days, waters can be clearest over the year with visibility over 30 meters.

Water temperature is a nice 28-30 degrees Celcius for most of the year, dropping to 24-26 degrees between the cooler months of December to February.
